The ones that happen every week.
Dates move. These don't. If you are new to the region and want one thing to walk into, start here.
Show what you are building and get feedback from people who can actually give it. Informal. Bring a laptop, or bring nothing and watch.
Same room, same idea, for the work that isn't code. Positioning, go to market, hiring, design, operations.
For founders working the sales side of the business. Pipeline, pricing, and the conversations that close.
Volunteers building open technology for local civic problems. One of the longest-running regular tech nights in the region, and one of the easiest to join cold.
Developers in one room working on their own projects. Low ceremony, no pitch, no agenda.
The Waterloo chapter of AI Tinkerers. Demo-led evenings for people building with AI rather than talking about it.
More groups worth knowing, plus where to work and where to eat, are in The Waterloo Builder's Guide.
Two weeks a year worth flying in for.
Socratica Symposium
Socratica started as a weekly Sunday co-working session in Waterloo and became a global movement. The annual Symposium brings thousands of builders together to show what they are making. Software, art, science, all of it.
Waterloo Tech Week and Hack the North
Waterloo Tech Week is a decentralized run of 60+ panels, demos, meetups, and workshops across the city, organized by the student-led team behind Hack the North. It leads straight into Hack the North, Canada's largest hackathon.
The stretch from Tech Week through Hack the North is the best single window to see the region at full energy. Members get a dedicated Builders Club track.
The calendar is open.
If you run something in Kitchener-Waterloo for builders, put it on the list. It costs nothing and it reaches the people already looking.
